My 10-year-old tomboy self would probably be dying over this post, but I have to say that I am becoming a huge fan of workout dresses. I’m likely in workout clothes all day long, especially on days when I’m home with my kids and not working outside of the house. Workout clothes are just so easy, not to mention comfortable. My family is pretty active, so starting the day with a walk or a jog means that the first things I throw on are workout clothes.
Now, when my mom spent several years as a stay-at-home-mom, she said that getting dressed everyday in real clothes just made her feel better. And I get that. I can’t quite explain why, and nothing about the “real clothes” has to be fancy, but they just make me feel more awake. More productive. A little more human.
Enter my conundrum….
Workout clothes, when worn after the workout don’t quite conjure up the same feelings of alertness and productivity. Yet after that first walk or run of the day, I often need to quickly get out for an errand or an appointment. And time really is of the essence since I’m not about to sacrifice my daughter’s two and a half hour morning nap! I don’t want to change, but I also feel better in something other than sweaty mesh shorts.
I came across this workout dress from Toda Boa when browsing through some comments on Instagram. (Side note: isn’t Social Media crazy in that way?!) It sparked my attention right away because of the built-in brand and shorts. I started thinking that this actually might work as my workout clothes and then my rest-of-the-day-clothes. (Plus some deodorant of course! 😉 )
Now that’s my kind of Little Black Dress!
To my pleasant surprise, this dress is actually quite supportive and comfy. I’ll sometimes throw on a cardigan after my workout and I feel like I’ve got a cute little outfit with very little effort (little effort = more time for sweating 🙂 ).
The key for me is the built-in bra that’s supportive. I’d suggest that if you’re looking for a workout dress, you make sure that this feature is up to your approval, otherwise it’s not really made for a workout. I’m impressed that this particular dress has the supportive bra and the fancy back.
Finding a piece like this – practical and comfortable – is so satisfying!
