This blog post comes just as my business is about to turn 7 years old. The post is part reflection, part stream of conscience, and a whole lot of gratitude. Be sure to check out the slideshow at the end from the past 7 years! Thank you so much for reading.
I am proud and humbled to be wishing Bikram Yoga Natick – my first baby! – a Happy 7th Birthday this Saturday. When the studio opened back in 2010, I had dreams of what it could be. I’ve always been passionate about exercise and staying healthy, and the thought of helping people in my hometown improve their quality of life with yoga was a driving force to get the studio off the ground.
And then, the clients, the teachers, and the friends that have come through the doors over the years have all helped in far surpassing that dream. The studio is truly a place for healing and sweating, for life-improvements and self-realizations. So many transformations happen on the mat and in the hot room, and I’ve been blessed to witness and be part of the friendships that have formed in the lobby and beyond.
As a mother, I believe that it takes a village to raise a child. Many of you know how fortunate I am to have my family members close by, family members who play an active role in my children’s lives. That village helps my children thrive.
Just like a baby, the studio takes nurturing, energy, time, emotion, care, thought, and dedication. But not only from me. Similarly to how my children need a village beyond our household, the students and teachers of Bikram Yoga Natick are the studio’s village. Because not only does it take a village to raise a child, it takes a village to help a business thrive. There’s no way I could do it alone.
I am forever grateful to you – students and teachers – for your dedication to your practices, the energy you give to your fellow yogis, and the friendship and support you have given to me over the years. That is what has made BYN a thriving part of our community. Each and every one of you desires the highest quality of life for everyone who enters the hot room. We care for each other’s well-being and are passionate about teaching and practicing this healing yoga and continuing to learn.
As I prepare to welcome the next addition to my family in a little less than a month, I couldn’t have dreamt up a better village.
Thank you for allowing me to do what I love and help continue bringing this healing yoga to my hometown community.
